Gi and no-gi · All levelsAdult jiu-jitsu
Fundamentals four nights a week for anyone walking in off the street, and advanced classes for blue belts and up who want to compete.

Fundamentals, all levels
Monday to Thursday at 6 PM. Gi on Monday and Wednesday, no-gi on Tuesday and Thursday. This is where everyone starts and where most people keep training: escapes, guard, passing, submissions, taught in a curriculum you can follow from your first day.
Advanced, blue belt and up
Monday to Thursday at 7 PM, plus Saturday morning no-gi. Competition-paced rounds and the details Nick has picked up from 22 years training with some of the best grapplers in the world.
Lunchtime no-gi
Monday to Thursday at noon. Forty-five minutes of work and back to your afternoon.
Gi or no-gi?
Gi is the traditional uniform and you can grip it, which slows things down and rewards technique. No-gi is shorts and a rash guard, faster, and closer to wrestling and MMA. Apex teaches both every week and most people end up training both.
Class times
Mon to Thu: 12:00 no-gi, 6:00 fundamentals, 7:00 advanced.
Sat 10:30 AM advanced no-gi.
Open mat Fri 5:00 PM and Sun 10:30 AM.
Your first class
Come to any 6 PM Fundamentals class. Shorts and a fitted shirt are fine. Coach Nick will pair you with someone who remembers their own first day.
Questions people ask
I'm out of shape. Can I start?
Yes. Most people start out of shape. Fundamentals is paced so you can go as hard or as easy as you need, and you'll get fit by training, not before it.
How long until I'm any good?
Most people feel a real difference in about three months of training two or three times a week. Belts take years, and that's the point.
Do you have women in the classes?
Yes, and women's reviews on our Google profile mention feeling respected and looked after from day one.
Can I compete?
Nick still competes and coaches a competition-focused group in the advanced classes. You'll be told honestly when you're ready.
